Shoutout to the foreman in Tulsa who told me to slow down and rake my joints after laying
I used to lay about 600 brick a day and just strike the joints as I went, thinking speed was everything. Then I worked a job in Tulsa last month where the guy running it made us rake every joint and come back an hour later, and the mortar set so much cleaner that the walls barely needed a wipe down. Anyone else switched to raking later instead of striking right away, or is that just how they do it down there?
