Picked lime mortar over portland for a 1920s row house repoint in Richmond this week

Took me two extra days to mix and cure it but the brick is breathing way better now and the customer called me back to say the basement feels drier already, anyone else deal with the debate between modern vs traditional on old work?

GEEZ that basement thing is WILD. My grandma's old row house in Philly had that same slimy damp issue for YEARS until some guy finally repointed it with lime. You basically proved the old timers right about it being a total game changer for moisture management. I bet the whole neighborhood is gonna be knocking on that customer's door now asking who did the work.

Frr that "proved the old timers right" part hits different when you see a dry basement.
