Greenhorn at the mortar mixer taught me the old school way to judge consistency
I used to eyeball my mix until a mason in Scranton had me scoop a trowel full and flip it clean over, and if the sides didn't crumble at all I knew it was ready, so now I do that on every job before laying a single course, any other guys still rely on the old flip test over a timer?

Yknow I always set a timer before, but that flip test honestly seems way more reliable...
