Warning: That $15 bread lame was a total waste of money
I grabbed a cheap lame off Amazon for scoring my sourdough and it couldn't even cut through a basic boule without dragging the dough. The blade was dull right out of the package and kept sticking. Ended up using a sharp kitchen knife instead and got way better results. Anyone else had luck with a regular razor blade setup instead of those fancier tools?

Oh man, that's exactly how it goes with so many kitchen gadgets nowadays... they look great in the photos but totally fail when you actually try to use them. I've noticed this pattern with all sorts of tools, people spend money on a specialized thing that barely works when a simple, old-school solution does the job better. A single razor blade on a stick is cheaper and sharper than half the stuff they sell us.

My old cast iron skillet from a yard sale still outlasts every nonstick pan I've tried.
