My dough went from sticky to smooth in 20 minutes after this fix
I was kneading a basic white bread recipe and the dough would NOT stop sticking to my hands after 10 minutes. Then I remembered a tip to just wet my hands instead of adding more flour, and the difference was NIGHT and DAY. Has anyone else tried the wet hands trick or do you stick with extra flour on the counter?

Have you tried a light dusting of flour on the surface instead? Wet hands always just made my dough slimy and harder to manage.

Wait, has anyone tried using oil on their hands instead of water? I saw a video where this baker just dipped her fingers in a little veg oil before handling dough and it was a game changer for me. The dough doesn't stick at all but you also don't get that weird paste that flour can leave if you add too much. Plus it keeps the dough from drying out on the surface which happens when I dust with flour and then take too long shaping it. I only use a tiny bit though, like a few drops rubbed between my palms.
