Is it cheating to use a bread machine for the kneading part?

Three years ago I swore off bread machines entirely after a friend in Austin gave me a lecture about how real bakers do everything by hand. Last month my wrist started hurting from kneading a double batch of sourdough, so I dug the old machine out of the basement and used it just for the dough cycle. Do you think using a machine for part of the process still counts as baking from scratch, or am I just fooling myself?
