Finally got a decent rise on my sourdough after switching to a digital scale

I was eyeballing my flour for ages and my loaves were always flat. Borrowed a friend's scale and measured exactly 500 grams of flour this time, and the dough doubled in size overnight. Anyone else find that weighing ingredients was a total game changer?

Wait, your grandma never weighed anything? That's wild. Flour compacts so much in the bag, my "cup" could be twice as heavy as yours. A scale is the only way to know you're starting from the same place every single time. I'd have given up on sourdough without one.

Seems like extra hassle to me. My grandma never weighed a thing and her bread was perfect.
