Unpopular opinion: I think misting my calathea with tap water is what finally made it happy.
After switching from filtered to plain Milwaukee tap water for misting, the leaves stopped browning within a week, which makes me wonder if our local water has something in it the plant actually likes.

My peace lily thrived on hard tap water after I gave up on distilled.

I always heard they needed distilled water to avoid brown tips. Honestly, I was buying jugs for mine for like two years. Seeing yours do well on tap water makes me rethink that whole process. Tbh it's a relief because that was a real pain to keep up. Maybe the minerals aren't as bad as people say. I'm gonna try switching mine over and see what happens.
