That time my neighbor Linda said to put coffee grounds on my ferns and it nearly killed them
So last spring my neighbor Linda, who has this huge garden with roses, told me to dump leftover coffee grounds on my Boston ferns for extra nitrogen. I did it for like two weeks straight and the ferns started turning yellow and drooping real bad. Turns out ferns are super sensitive to acidity and I basically burned the roots off with all that caffeine. Has anyone else gotten plant advice from a well-meaning neighbor that backfired?

Did you actually rinse the coffee grounds first? I dropped dry ones straight from the filter on my snake plant once and the salt buildup messed it up too, lol.

Did you rinse them until the water ran clear or just a quick shake?
