Native plants beat my hybrid roses and I am fine with it

I swapped out 14 hybrid tea roses for local prairie species last spring in Austin and the bees came back within a month, so why do we keep pushing exotic blooms that need daily babysitting?

Those 14 roses probably took more water than my whole native garden gets in a month, and the bees showing up that fast tells you EVERYTHING about what actually matters out here. Once you see the monarchs hitting the milkweed, the fancy hybrids start feeling like lawn ornaments with extra steps.
