My monstera's new leaf unfurled with a big brown patch and I nearly tossed the whole plant
I was misting it last Tuesday in my bedroom when I saw the newest leaf had a mushy brown spot the size of a quarter, so I panicked and cut it off with kitchen scissors right at the stem. Turns out it was just a little root rot from me overwatering it twice in one week, and the plant is totally fine now with two new leaves coming in. Has anyone else cut off a perfectly saveable leaf out of pure panic?

Chopped a brand new pothos leaf last month because it had one tiny dry edge. One tiny crispy tip and I went full doomsday mode, grabbed the shears and snipped it before my brain even caught up. Then I sat there staring at the cut stem like ok cool, that was totally unnecessary. The plant gave me three more leaves after that so it clearly did not care about my drama. Lesson learned the hard way I guess, dry tips happen and leaves are not as fragile as I treat them. Now I make myself wait a full week before touching anything with scissors.
