Killed 3 houseplants before I realized I was watering them wrong the whole time
For like 2 years I had this routine. Every Sunday morning I'd give all my plants a splash of water, maybe half a cup each. Thought I was being consistent and that was good. Then my snake plant started turning yellow and mushy at the base. I googled it and found out I was basically drowning it every week. The soil was still wet from the last time. Took me killing a pothos and a fern to finally check the soil with my finger before watering. Now I only water when the top inch is dry, which for some plants is every 10 days or so. That snake plant actually bounced back after I stopped touching it for 3 weeks. Anyone else make this mistake early on or was it just me?
