Hot take: overwatering vs underwatering a fiddle leaf fig in Portland
I was in my apartment in Portland last month and gave my fiddle leaf fig a big drink every Saturday like I always did. Then it dropped half its leaves and I realized the pot had no drainage holes under the decorative cover - I basically drowned it for 6 weeks. But my buddy across town never waters his and his looks perfect, so is it really just about neglect sometimes? Anyone else had a plant die from too much love or is it just me?

Your buddy's pot probably has drainage holes hidden under the cover too.

Hidden under the cover" - wow, that one got me. I never would have thought to look there for drainage holes. Sounds like your buddy really knows how to keep things looking clean while still making sure the plant stays healthy.
