Can we talk about how long it took me to figure out leaf propagation?

So I kept trying to prop a Monstera leaf in water for like 3 months and it just sat there. Finally looked it up and realized I needed a node on the cutting. That was 10 weeks of waiting I could have saved if I just googled first. Has anyone else messed up a simple propagation this bad?

Well I'll be. Learning the hard way seems to be how most of us figure things out.

Read something the other day about how people who learn by messing up actually retain the lesson way better than folks who just get told what to do. Makes sense when you think about it, getting smacked by reality tends to stick in your memory more than a lecture. Kind of a raw deal that we gotta burn our own hands to understand fire, right? But at least the scars come with a story and a solid lesson that doesn't fade. Guess that's just the price of a lesson that really stays with you.
