Was cleaning out my grandfather's old workshop and found a ledger from 1938
I was going through boxes in his basement in Cincinnati and pulled out this leather-bound account book. The entries show he charged $1.25 to reback a novel, but $8.50 for a full leather rebind on a family bible. I had no idea the price difference for different jobs was that big back then. Has anyone else come across old pricing records that made you rethink current rates?

That $8.50 for the bible rebind is a huge jump. Did the ledger show what materials made it so much more expensive?

Probably leather and gold leaf, that stuff adds up fast.
