The day my PVA mix turned into a science experiment

Had a perfect glue pot going for a leather binding last Tuesday, then walked away for 5 minutes to answer the phone. Came back to a skin so thick I had to chip it out with a palette knife. Anyone else have a PVA batch go rogue on them mid-project?

Oh man, did this happen to a buddy of mine. He was doing a batch of book cloth and stepped out to grab a coffee, came back and his PVA had turned into something that looked like curdled milk with a plastic top. He said he had to scrape it out with a putty knife too, and the whole thing smelled like a weird chemical accident for hours. He still jokes about it being his "advanced polymer experiment" but I think he just left the lid off and the room was too dry. Hope your leather binding turned out okay despite the glue drama.
