Swapped out my old linen thread for waxed synthetic last year

I used to only use Irish linen thread for all my bindings. Then I picked up some waxed polyester thread at a bindery supply store in Chicago and gave it a try. The synthetic stuff doesn't fray or break as easy when I'm pulling tight on a heavy text block. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed a big difference in how long their sewing holds up?

Emma's right about the humidity thing, the waxed polyester holds up way better in my damp basement shop. The stitching on my case bindings from three years ago still looks clean with zero joint issues. Way less frustration compared to linen fraying on me during those tense sewing sessions.

Have you noticed the waxed polyester handles humidity better too? Tbh I switched and my joints don't pop open like they used to with linen.
