Gone through 3 bone folders this year, finally figured out why they kept snapping

I do a lot of tight spines on small journals, like 4x6 inch ones. Kept snapping bone folders at the handle right where it meets the blade. Took me 4 months and 3 broken tools to realize I was putting way too much pressure on the fold instead of letting the paper crease naturally. Switched to a lighter touch and started using a Teflon folder for the first pass. Anyone else have a tool they thought was junk but turned out they were just using it wrong?
