Back when glue came in granules, not bottles: a binding debate

I learned with hide glue that required heat and mixing. Now, adhesive often comes pre-mixed in containers. Which method do you prefer for your bindings, and what's your reason?

Actually, I was totally on team bottled glue for years because it's so easy. But trying hide glue for a real repair changed my mind completely. Having that longer open time to adjust things is a total game changer for getting it right.

Back in my day, we had to work for our glue, not just squeeze it out of a bottle. Give me the pre-mixed stuff any time, unless you enjoy playing chemist in your workshop. Heating and mixing granules feels like a science project gone wrong, and who has time for that? With bottled adhesive, you just open it and go, which means more time actually binding things instead of prepping glue. Sure, the old way might make you feel like a crafty wizard, but I'd rather not risk gluing my fingers together. Modern adhesives are just more reliable and less hassle, end of story.
