Am I the only one who binds magazines before reading them?

I got tired of losing pages from my old zine collection, so I started flat-binding each issue into a simple pamphlet stitch before I even cracked it open. Took about 15 minutes per issue with a bone folder and some linen thread, and now my shelf in Chicago looks like a proper run instead of a pile of scraps. Everyone I talk to says they read first and bind later, but honestly the unread pages stay way cleaner this way. Has anyone else tried pre-binding their periodicals, or am I just weird about my own books?
