A binder in Chicago told me my headbands were too tight and it wrecked my spines
I was at a workshop last month and showed off a recent case binding, proud of how crisp the rounding looked. He picked it up, opened it a few times, and said 'you're choking the book, ease up on the linen tape.' I went home and tried a lighter touch on my next project, a 400 page journal, and the opening is way better. How do you all judge the right tension when you're lacing in?

That's a hard lesson to learn, but your books will thank you for it.

My neighbor's garden is a mess, but her tomatoes are the best on the block.
