Why is nobody talking about the 75-page mark in book club picks?

We hit our club's 50th book last month, and I realized every single pick lost half the group right around page 75. It's like clockwork, whether it's a thriller or a literary thing. I'm not saying pacing is everything, but I swear that's where authors either hook you or lose you. Has anyone else noticed this exact page count, or am I just tracking it too obsessively?

Swear I used to think pacing was total nonsense, but now I'm noticing my own DNF pile all stalls around that same spot. Tbh you just made me realize I've got a weird mental bookmark for page 75 in everything I read.
