Honestly that's kinda the point for me. Good books bring up real life stuff, so of course people talk about it. Makes the whole thing more interesting.
Come on, that's exactly what ruins a good story for me. Sometimes I just want to escape into a book without getting dragged into a bunch of heavy real world debates. All that overthinking and picking apart every little thing just sucks the fun right out. It turns a cool escape into another boring talk about stuff we hear all day anyway. Let me just enjoy the ride.
I was at a bookstore just last week and saw some guy arguing with the cashier about whether a fantasy novel was "too woke." Like, really? It's a book about dragons. You can find deeper meaning in anything if you try hard enough but sometimes a story is just a story. Not every page needs to be taken apart like it's some big political statement.
