Vent: Nothing beats a physical book club meeting, no matter how convenient Zoom is
Our group has been doing virtual meetings for about 8 months now and I'm honestly sick of it. Last week we finally had one in person at Jenny's house and it was night and day different. People actually finished the book for once, we had real back and forth instead of the awkward silence where three people talk over each other. The best part was when someone brought up a small detail from chapter 4 that nobody noticed and we spent 20 minutes debating whether the author meant it as a clue or just filler. On Zoom we just get the same three people dominating while everyone else watches their cats. I finally spoke up and said we should rotate houses every month instead. Has anyone else managed to get their group back to real meetings?

Nah, hard disagree. My group actually got more done on Zoom. Less time wasted on small talk and driving. People could just pop in for 45 minutes and leave. The introverts actually talk more when they're not forced to make eye contact. We finished way more books in less time. I get the appeal of in-person but virtual has its own perks that people ignore.
