The highlight-and-reread trick that fixed my book club arguments

I kept showing up to book club debates with my points scattered across dog ears and sticky notes, and I'd lose track of which quote backed what idea. Then I started highlighting every passage that made me feel something, one color for plot clues and another for character stuff, and reread only those before the meeting. Has anyone else tried a color system for tracking arguments, or do you just trust your memory and wing it?
