That week I tried to speed-read a 600 page novel for book club and it backfired completely
I had never missed a deadline before, but last month I agreed to host our book club discussion on a Thursday and only started the book on Monday night. I skimmed entire chapters of The Goldfinch, missed all the character development, and showed up with notes that were basically wrong. Has anyone else tanked a book club meeting by rushing through a long novel just to have something to say?

Started the book on Monday night" oh man I've been there lol. I once tried to cram Crime and Punishment in two days and showed up to my book club just describing the weather in St. Petersburg the whole time.
