Still can't believe people in my book club defend that unrealistic ending in 'The Midnight Library'
Everyone acting like it was profound, but the whole premise falls apart when you realize Nora's choices ignore actual consequences of her actions, like the cat dying or her brother's accident. Has anyone else called out how the author just glossed over those details to force a happy ending?

Thirty pages in I was totally on the team that thought it was beautiful and deep. But then I reread it last month and your point about the cat really got me. She just zips past that like it never mattered and it bothered me way more the second time. The brother's accident was the same thing, just a quick mention and then poof, no real weight to it. It felt like the author wanted a cozy message not a real story with real stakes. I used to defend it hard too but now I think you're right, the ending was cheap.

The cat thing bugs me too, @richard110, was the brother even alive at the end?
