Realized last week why my book club debates were falling flat
Last Tuesday at our monthly meeting, I brought up a theme in the chapter about forgiveness. But everyone just stared at me. I figured out later that my question was too vague. Instead of asking about the theme, I should have asked something like "Would you have forgiven the character after what she did on page 47?" That got people talking. Has anyone else found that specific page references or moments work better than broad topics in your club?

Have you tried picking one single sentence or paragraph to start with? That way everyone's looking at the same thing and it's harder to just nod and move on.
