One debate rule change made our meetings 40 minutes shorter
I swapped our usual free-for-all discussion for a timer where each person gets 5 minutes to argue their side before anyone can interrupt, and it cut our longest debate in half last Thursday. Anyone else tried structured talking times for heated books, or does that kill the vibe too?

Ha, that's wild that it cut it in half. But do you actually find people stick to their real points when they know the floor is theirs for the full five, or do they just pad it out with filler until the timer dings? I'd worry the quiet folks still get steamrolled once the open floor part comes back, you know?
