I tried a book club rule from a friend in Austin and it changed our whole talk

My friend said her club picks a 'villain' to argue for in every book, even if you hate them. We tried it with 'Wuthering Heights' last week, and I got stuck defending Heathcliff. I had to find three good points for his side, which felt impossible at first. It actually made the debate way deeper because we weren't just saying if we liked him or not. Has your club ever tried a weird rule like that to shake things up?

That rule sounds like a fun way to avoid boring book chats!
