I stopped making everyone finish the pick and our club survived
For three years I was the hard case in our Tuesday group at the Round Lake library, insisting that if you didn't read the whole pick you kept quiet at the meeting. Last month we tried a "tap out at page 100" rule for a 640 page doorstop, and the talk was the best we've had since a rainy night in 2022. Half the group bailed early, but they still showed up and argued about the first 100 pages like it mattered. Am I wrong that finishing a pick is overrated, or does a club fall apart without that pressure?
