I finally had to walk out of a book club meeting last night
We were discussing 'The Vanishing Half' and one lady went on a 20 minute rant about how the author got the geography wrong in one small scene. She pulled out maps and everything. Nobody else could get a word in for the whole hour. Has anyone else dealt with a member who just dominates the conversation like that?

My neighbor's knitting club fell apart after one member brought charts to prove everyone was using the wrong yarn weight.

Oh man, the "pulled out maps" part hit me right in the gut. Had a guy in my old sci-fi book club who would do the same thing with Star Wars lore, literally bring notes and start lecturing about which planet was where. It got so bad that three of us just stopped showing up because we never got to actually talk about the book.
