I brought the wrong edition of the book to my book club meeting and it nearly started a fight
I showed up last Tuesday at Sarah's place with the 2010 paperback instead of the 2022 revised edition and three people spent 20 minutes arguing over whether a deleted chapter counted as canon, has anyone else dealt with edition drama like this?

Three people argued over a deleted chapter being canon? That is absolutely insane to me. I would have walked out of that room and never come back to the book club. How does a missing chapter in an old edition even start a fight? It's like showing up with a different colored cover and having someone claim the blue one has more literary merit. Honestly, your book club sounds like it needs to chill out and maybe get new reading material.

Read somewhere that the author himself said that chapter was cut because it made the pacing drag. So the people insisting it's canon are basically arguing against the guy who wrote the book. It's like telling a chef their recipe is missing a secret ingredient they purposely left out. I'd just bring cookies next time and see if that starts a fight too.
