Honestly, I spent $40 on a hardcover of 'The Overstory' for my book club and it totally burned me.

Check your local library first next time. Mine had a waitlist for the hardcover but they had the ebook ready to go instantly. I just borrowed a tablet from the tech desk to read it for the meeting.
