Hit 50 books read this year and it totally changed how I pick my book club picks
I just finished my 50th book last night and I honestly didn't think I'd hit that number until December. It was a random thriller called "The Silent Patient" that pushed me over the edge. Now I'm looking back at all the books I suggested to my book club this year and realizing I pushed too many heavy literary novels that nobody finished. My club gets mad when we pick stuff over 400 pages and I kept ignoring that fact. Next year I'm gonna aim for 60 but I'm also gonna pay way more attention to page counts and fun factor. Anyone else hit a reading number that made you rethink what you bring to your club meetings?
Yeah I saw a article saying most book clubs actually prefer stuff around 300 pages or less so you're probably onto something there. The Silent Patient is a solid pick though, I tore through that one in like 3 days. I started checking page counts and genre vibes before suggesting anything to my group and it helped a ton, nobody zones out halfway through anymore.
