Hit 200 book club debates last night and I'm still processing it

After 3 years of hosting our neighborhood group, we hit our 200th debate last night (over whether the narrator in the new thriller was reliable or just crazy), and I honestly didn't think we'd make it past 20 - has anyone else's club surprised them like this?

that's actually kind of beautiful if you think about it, 200 debates means you guys really dug into something deeper than just surface level chat. it makes me wonder if we're all kinda scared of doing that in normal life, like having real back and forth without it turning into an argument.

deadass @oscarmurray you hit the nail on the head. people are so scared of being wrong or hurting feelings that they just nod along instead of actually talking. i feel like if more folks treated debates like exploring ideas instead of winning, we'd all get way closer.
