Found out my book club has been mispronouncing the author's name for 6 months

We read two of her books already and nobody ever checked. Last night at our meeting in the library basement, a new member said it right and we all froze. Turns out it's not "Mah-ghee" but "Mah-guy." Felt like total idiots but also kind of funny. Anyone else ever have that awkward moment where you realize the whole group had it wrong?

oh man, I feel this so hard. We had a similar thing happen with a cooking club I was in where we'd been saying "quinoa" wrong for like a year. It's so embarrassing in the moment but honestly it makes for a good story later. The fact that you all froze when the new member said it right is hilarious and I can totally picture it. Glad you can laugh about it now, because these things happen to the best of us.

Quinoa" is way different though since that's a real word with a legit pronunciation. An author's name is kinda personal and I feel like the group should have double checked before talking about them for 6 months. It's funny in hindsight but also kinda shows nobody cared enough to look it up.
