Bought the $40 hardcover for our book club pick and nobody finished it

We chose a 600 page literary novel that sounded good, but the whole group gave up after 200 pages. Felt like a total waste. Anyone else have a club pick that just killed the momentum?

Remember my friend who joined a club just like that, barbara_butler. She ended up reading a sci-fi book she hated but it sparked the best debate. Sometimes the point is finding what you dislike to figure out what you really love.
