Book club split over the memoir, one member stormed out

We were debating 'The Glass Castle' at the library annex on Thursday and this woman, Carol, kept insisting the author was making everything up because no family lives like that. She slammed her chair back when three of us pointed out the court records in the book back her up, and she walked out mid-sentence. Has anyone else had a member get that hostile over a factual disagreement, or do we need to add a 'no personal attacks on the author' rule to the chat?
