Actually, ginger cats are orange. The word ginger just means orange when we talk about cats. So asking if it was a ginger cat is the same as asking if it was an orange cat. Maybe the cat in the book was a different color, like black or calico. That could change the whole metaphor, right? What color was the cat in your book?
