Appreciation post: I finally stopped reading the book the night before club
For 8 months I was speed reading the whole pick the night before our Thursday meetup in Madison and just nodding along. The tipping point was when Sarah quoted a line from page 40 and I couldn't even say what happened on it. Now I start the book 10 days out and write 3 notes per chapter. How do you all space out your reading before the meeting?
Same here, and the sad part is I thought I was being slick. Two weeks ago someone asked what I made of the ending and I just said "yeah it was wild" which fooled nobody. Now I do about 40 pages a night, five nights a week, so I finish with a couple days to spare and can actually sit with it. Still working on the notes thing though, mine are just random page numbers with no context.
