Spent $450 on a magnetic drill press for a boiler tube job last fall.
It paid for itself in one weekend by cutting the time to drill out the old tube sheets in half. Anyone have a go-to brand for the bits that last more than a few holes in that kind of steel?

Man, I feel that. I dropped a similar amount on one a while back and the first cheap bits I bought just turned into expensive chalk. It's like the steel knows you're trying to save money and laughs at you. I've had decent luck with the Milwaukee carbide bits if you can keep the feed light and flood it with oil.

Yeah, @kai_lee35, that's just how it goes with tools. It's the same with kitchen knives or boots, you know? Buy the cheap version first, it breaks fast, and then you end up buying the good one anyway. So you basically paid for two things instead of one.
