Spent 12 years grinding the wrong bevel angle, an old timer in Tampa spotted it in 5 seconds

I always laid my plate bevels at 30 degrees because that's how my first lead taught me, but this retired guy walked by, laughed, and asked if I liked burning through wire. He showed me the print spec called for 37.5 on that job, and my joints have been cleaner ever since. Anybody else pick up a bad habit early that took a stranger to correct?
