Old timer showed me I was rigging my boom angles all wrong

Worked with a guy named Bill over at the Chevron refinery in Pascagoula last month. He pointed out I was setting my boom angles about 10 degrees too steep on the bigger lifts. I argued with him for a minute but tried it his way and the load sat way steadier through the whole pick. Has anyone else had an older hand correct something you thought you had down solid?

Oh man, the boom angle thing totally bit me too. I had an old crane hand show me I was setting mine way off for the lighter picks and it made everything feel way more sketchy than it needed to be. I mean, it's humbling but those guys just know stuff from doing it forever.

Heard my buddy say the same thing after an old timer fixed his boom angle in like five minutes.
