Last Wednesday was the worst shift I've had in 6 years on the job

We were welding up a feedwater heater at a plant outside Houston. Everything went wrong from the start. My stinger cable shorted out on a steel beam around 9am. Then the inspector flagged our root pass for porosity right before lunch. By 2pm the grinder seized up and I had to borrow one from a guy on the other end of the unit. To top it off, one of the guys dropped a beam clamp on his boot and we had to shut down for an hour. Has anyone else had a day where every single tool and person fought against you?

That inspector costs you more time than the equipment failures combined.

Sounds like the universe really wanted you to take a vacation day.
