I thought those new ceramic welding blankets were just a gimmick

My crew in Detroit got a roll of the heavy duty stuff last month, and I figured it was just overpriced junk. We were doing a hot tap on a 12 inch steam line and a spark caught the old fiberglass blanket on fire. Switched to the ceramic one and it just sat there, no burn, no smoke. I had to eat my words right there on the spot. Has anyone else had a job where one of these actually saved your bacon?

My skepticism about those blankets went up in smoke, much like the old ones.

Haha, did my blanket review finally convince you? I should have mentioned my last one caught fire because I left it on a space heater, so maybe I'm not the best judge.
