Dropped $180 on a fancy welding hood and wish I had my old one back

I spent $180 on one of those auto-darkening Speedglas hoods last month and honestly it's giving me more headaches than my old fixed shade. The sensors keep freaking out when I'm working on big tanks in the shop with overhead lights. Has anyone else had issues with these newer hoods or did I just get a dud from the supply house on Miller Avenue?

Is it really that big of a deal though? Auto-darken hoods are fine for most stuff. Maybe you just need to adjust the sensitivity.
