Can we talk about passing on weekend work for family time?

I mean, the guys always say you gotta take every job, but I've started putting my kids first. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think missing ball games makes you a real boilermaker.

My dad was a boilermaker for 30 years and still made most of my games. Missing a few doesn't make you less dedicated to the trade.

Yeah for real, my old foreman used to say the same thing about never turning down hours. But honestly, missing my son's first home run last season was a gut punch. I coach his Little League team now and I just block off those weekends, no matter what. The work will still be there Monday.
