Used to hate co-op games until a stranger at PAX changed my mind

This guy in a faded Firefly shirt spent 20 minutes showing me how Pandemic works at a booth in Seattle back in 2018, and he was so patient and excited about it that I bought the game on the spot. Has anyone else had a random encounter flip your opinion on a whole genre?

Oh man, that's such a great story. Had something similar happen with a board game called Mysterium at a local game cafe... this total stranger saw me looking overwhelmed and spent like half an hour walking me through it, even let me win my first round. Completely changed how I felt about cooperative games because I always thought they'd be boring or too easy, but that experience showed me how fun it is to figure stuff out together. Never would have touched a co-op game before that, now they're honestly my favorite thing to play on game nights.

Funny how one random act of patience can totally flip your outlook on something.
