TIL a quick trick to stop my game group from arguing over rules mid-session

I started writing the contested rule on a sticky note and putting it under the box lid, which cut our 'lawyer phase' down by like 15 minutes. Anyone got other ways to handle rules lawyers without killing the vibe?

My buddy Dave had a player who would stop our Deadlands game to look up grappling rules. We started a "dispute jar" where anyone arguing a rule had to put in two bucks. The money bought pizza next session, and the debates basically stopped by week three.

That dispute jar idea is brilliant. It's like putting a small tax on being a pain, you know? I see the same thing at my local board game cafe, where they charge a quarter for any rulebook check after the first one.
